Materials Superintendant

Overview:
The Materials Superintendent supervises all physical warehousing and materials management activities at the Client’s terminal locations.

Required Performance Metrics:
A) Communication: excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact in a professional manner with all Client organization levels. Interface well with vendors and suppliers via phone, fax and direct.
B) Supervision: must be a self-starter who needs no supervision. Directly supervises and directs all warehousing staff at the Client’s Terminal.
C) Organizational Activities: must organize workload on multiple projects and operational support functions. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Should have an excellent understanding of supply chain information services hardware and software.
D) Knowledge: specific materials management and inventory expertise in the oil and gas industry. Comprehensive understanding of customs, purchasing, expediting and transportation systems and processes.
E) Team Player: ability to perform in a cross-functional environment and work well with a multi-cultural workforce.

Job Duties:
1. Responsible for the maximum utilization of all material, equipment and supplies for the Client’s terminal operations.
2. Provide for the enhancement of the efficiency and effectiveness of materials management and warehousing operations.
3. Serve as the focal point representing all materials management and warehousing issues.
4. Ensure compliance with Client policy and procedures in the execution of materials management initiatives and daily work routines.
5. Responsible for recommendations on the establishment of new policy and procedures and changes to existing policies and procedures on materials management issues for Client.
6. Provide informed opinion to all staff of Client as required on materials management and warehousing issues.
7. Develop procedural recommendations for change to streamline the logistics business process and to maximize the use of company resources.
8. Supervise and provide training and development of warehouse staff.
9. Ensures all client’s initiatives, policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.

Education/Experience:
College diploma or equivalent. Formal warehousing/inventory education preferred. Minimum 10 years experience in inventory, logistics, warehousing and purchasing areas in the oil and gas environment with at least five (5) years at the supervisory level.
